I will be pleased to answer your questions. However my way of writing mails takes a lot of time. Possibly you will find the answer in one of the answers to the questions below.
The questions are linked to the answers.
A ScoonimDoll is a very exclusive doll, but it is not OOAK. A ScoonimDoll is mainly a technical achievement. It is a reproduction in a very small edition with a number of options for customizing. You can compare it with for instance a Lamborghini sportscar. They are not unique, but definitely exclusive.
Will there also be less expensive ScoonimDolls?
Not likely. ScoonimDolls are made one at a time. The making is very complex due to the extremely soft skin. It requires a perfect casting because even the smallest flaws are almost impossible to restore. Consequently the skeleton has to be perfect as well. Of every ScoonimDoll all posable parts have to be tested thouroughly, because once casted
the functioning has to remain stable for repairs on the skeleton are not possible without serious and irreversable damage to the skin together with some big scars.
The whole process of making a single ScoonimDoll takes several weeks. It includes a number of critical points in which even a minor mistake could result in total rejection of the doll...
Is the production of ScoonimDolls limited?
For now the production is not limited to a specific number. However the number of ScoonimDolls I will be able to make is very small. The maximum I will be able to make this year is at most 15 pieces. Even if I would succeed next year to make twice this amount, they still will be highly exclusive. I expect to make 50 ScoonimDolls utmost with simular skeleton and body proportions, because the real fun for me is development.
Besides that, all ScoonimDolls will be more ore less customized. So the chance that there will be a genuine identical series is very small. It is also likely that a certain innovation can instantly be used. When the innovation is in the skeleton, the dolls may look simular, but technically they wil be not identical.
Do you have plans to make also larger scale ScoonimDolls?
No, there are no plans to do so. In order to make a ScoonimDoll in another scale I will also have to develop an entirely new skeleton. Besides the fact that this takes a lot of time, I am uncertain that there will be enough people to appreciate it over the 12" models. It is pretty much like mobile phones. The smaller and more sophisticated, the higher the appreciation.
Can I purchase a ScoonimDoll as DIY kit?
No. Except for a few parts (eyes, eyelids, teeth an tongue) there are no detachable components on a ScoonimDoll. Also skin coloring is not something you can do afterwards, because the coloring needs to be sealed.
Can I purchase ScoonimDoll parts like the head, hands/arms, feet/legs ?
No. I offer only parts like eyes, eyelids, teeth tongue, and a few accessories. These are only available for ScoonimDoll owners.
Will other 12" doll clothing fit ScoonimDolls?
Yes, undoubtedly some clothing of other 12" doll types may fit a ScoonimDoll. However be warned! The skin of a ScoonimDoll is very much like human baby skin.
It will adapt to the clothing, but unlike human skin it does not fully regenerate. Imprinting of clothing seams caused by tight fit or rough materials for a 'longer' period of time will occur.
Clothing should preferably be as refined as human clothing, which means that soupless, thickness of seams and texture should be scaled 1:6. Most clothing for Actionman figures or such are
designed for the looks only. This clothing will most likely seriously damage your ScoonimDoll.
I have designed some clothing specially for ScoonimDolls which is available for ScoonimDoll owners. But it is rather expensive because of the finishing. I have developed a method
to minimize clothing seams. ScoonimDoll owners that like to make clothing for their ScoonimDoll themselves, I will be happy to advise.
Do you sell pedestrials for ScoonimDolls?
No, I do not have a standard pedestrial. A ScoonimDoll is a dynamic doll. The posing possibilities are endless. I do not think a thing like a pedestrial (with a bar to support the ScoonimDoll in standing position?) will do much just to a ScoonimDoll. The closest thing to a display I can offer is the bed on the picture in
ScoonimDolls/galleries/gallery-3 (click here to see this picture), or the old record player (see the video in the contact section). The bed is not of my making, but I can order them custom decorated.
I am considering to design a display platform like a small photostudio. But please do not expect anything soon.
Can I order a ScoonimDoll with a replica face of my favorite movie/pop star?
As long as the making of a resemblance is limited to the finishing of the ScoonimDoll ( haircut, color of hair, eyes, skin, etc.) this can usually be done without extra costs.
But if you would like to have the shaping adjusted, you must have a big purse. For such a request involves the modification of the original model and consequently the modification of the moulds.
Depending on the number of modifications the extra (!) costs can vary from 2.000,- euro (just the face) up to 20.000,- euro (complete model). Next to that there is the matter of copyright.
When will the male type ScoonimDoll be produced?
Possibly this year. The first prototype has been made, but it still needs some development. But because all requests so far only concern the feminin model ScoonimDolls, its finishing has low priority
